For my senior thesis, I knew early on I wanted to combine both my academic and extracurricular passions together. With the Dobbs decision last summer, my team at WSAM Alternative Radio and I agreed we needed to host a fundraising music festival, one that could become a new tradition for the station.

After finding The REACH Fund of CT, I discussed with them what direction they’d want a benefit music festival to feel like.

Throughout our discussions, one word that came up constantly was “breathing.” The idea of collectively slowing down and understanding each other is core to the identity of reFORM. Through this core word, I built up imagery that would support said feeling, most importantly, I knew motion had to be heavily involved in this brand.

To tie the visuals of both motion and print graphics together, three main pieces of the brand are laid out. Gradients, alluding to the breathing mentioned above, checkers to add a digital but also musical element, and the windows to show transparency but also disruption.

These elements all culminate in the announcement and event detail motion graphics below.

As my team and I hand-screenprinted the merchandise for this event, instead of focusing on the gradients, my designs focused more on the windows of the branding. Below is a detail of the illustration on the event tote.
